Things I love

This is a fun little peek-a-boo card I made last year but wanted to include in my Valentine's classes this year because it is so great.  When it is closed all the way it says "Things I love, shopping, chocolate, new shoes" and when you open it you see "but most of all you"  so your loved one knows you rank them above all those things!  Isn't that a sweet Valentine's card?  This is a sweet little set that is versatile with the added bonus of being inexpensive.

I cut a rectangle in the front large enough for the "things i love . . ." to show through and added the 3 things from the set that women typically love.  I'm not so typical, I hate to shop (unless it is with Stampin' Up!) and I'm not wild about new shoes.  I like them better once they are worn in and comfortable.  As you can see from the top picture, when you open the card you see that under "things i love . . ." it says but most of all YOU!.  What a nice surprise for the receipent to see when they open the card!

Valentine's Cards

Valentine's Day is just 2 weeks away, have you made your cards for your loved ones yet?  If not, here are 2 samples to get you started.  I got them in a swap at the team meeting earlier this month.  They both use Real Red, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White.  The first card is from Monica.  She uses the large swirl stamp from the Baroque Motifs set, one of my favorite stamps in my whole collection!  It is great for so many projects and a great background for scrapbook pages and cards.  I  probably use this stamp more than any other stamp I own.  Hearts of the 3 sizes are punched with the Heart to Heart XL punch and mounted to the front of the card with Stampin' Dimensional along with a few Basic Pearls to make this a gorgeous card.
The second card uses a strip of the beautiful Glimmer Paper that was introduced in the Occasions Mini Catalog earlier this month.  It gives a great sparkle that is hard to capture in a picture.  I love how just a strip down the side of the card and a tiny heart punched from it (almost hidden behind the ribbon) give this card amazing personality.  You don't need to tell everyone that you punched the heart from the strip behind the sentiment!  I love to conserve paper so that is a great idea to get the most from this special paper.  This is one of the cards I made at the Team meeting.  It was quick and easy but I love it.  I do love quick and easy!

I Made My Own Embossing Frame Folder

If you are like me, you are glad that January is half over.  I think we have all had crazy weather, I'm really tired of temperatures under 20 degrees and I've had enough snow for the Winter!  We are less than a  month away from Valentine's Day so we will be needing ideas for fun things to make for friends and family for that special day.

I absolutely LOVE the new Framed Tulips Embossing folder!  I have spent a bit of time hoping that the new Stampin' Up catalog this Summer will have several other embossing folders to choose from.  The frame-type folder makes creating a fantastic card so much quicker and easier!  Then I thought about the embossed card I made last year with the Heart To Heart punch and decided I could do a frame with the smallest hearts from that punch too.

I punched out a bunch of hearts and lined them up, centered them and stuck them down, 3 in a stack.  When I embossed the Pretty in Pink paper I used the platform, a Standard Cutting Plate, the Silicone pad and another Standard Cutting Plate.  It took a while to adhere all those little hearts but now I have my own Heart to Heart frame embossing folder to use as often as I want to!
The second card uses the stamp set Dreams DuJour.  I embossed the top half only with the Polka Dot Embossing folder and tied the organdy ribbon around it.  I mounted it on a piece of Rose Red cardstock for a quick and easy card.

I'm smelling my bread baking.  I reckon I need to go get it out of the oven before it gets too dark!  I'm having a dinner party tonight so I want that bread to be perfect  :~)
