A Cute Little Note Card and a Thank You Card

FYI, at the end of this post is info about a friend's blog candy, read on!

It's late and I have to get up early, very early tomorrow but I wanted to share a couple of more of the swap cards from our last team meeting.

First is a round card, cut with the Scalloped Circle die.  The creator didn't put her name on the back so I don't know who to credit for the card but it is a sweet little card and the interesting shape makes it all the more interesting.  She folded a piece of Whisper White cardstock and cut the die so that the fold wasn't cut.  Then the Bravo Burgundy cardstock circle was cut to match the top fold.  She even took the time to go around the whole card with the 1/4" hand held circle punch and punch each scallop on the top layers.  You can't really tell by the picture but the little girl from the Easter Blossoms set is covered with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
The Whisper White and Concord Crush card was made by Kathy Brown.  She embossed both layers, the Whisper White with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder and the Concord Crush with the Elegant Lines Embossing folder.  Some of the circles have tiny little Basic Pearls in them as well as the little butterfly's wing on the Thank You sentiment from the Oval All stamp set.

A good friend who's blog is not stamping or scrapbook related is giving away a $25 Bath and Body Works gift certificate plus a gorgeous red handmade scarf that is way cool.  She is choosing Friday morning so go check it out and sign up!

My Swap card and a Spring Swap

I got some great swap cards at the team meeting Tuesday night.  We have such talented Stampin' Up demonstrators everywhere!  First is my swap card.  I wanted to use the Punch Bunch stamp set so I made a baby card.  I have several friends who either just had a baby or are expecting so I need to make several more in blues and pinks!

I started off with a Baja Breeze base and a Whisper White  embossed polka-dot layer on top of that.  The scalloped edge at the bottom is made by punching just the edge with the Curly Label punch.  I punched the middle and then either side.  If you don't get it straight enough you can just nip a bit more off until it looks even.  Looking at the picture, I think I should have taken a little more off the left side!  A little sponging along the bottom finishes it off.
This swap card made by Judy uses the Easter Blossoms set from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I love the green, I'm so looking forward to the grass and trees turning green again!  A little ribbon and chunky glitter make this a special card to celebrate Spring.

In Hopes that Spring Will Come This Year!

I started this post last night but had a webinar that lasted until 10:30 and I was too tired to stay up any longer to finish.  Yesterday was my birthday and I had a wonderful day.  I went to a friend's house in the morning and we worked on cards to send to soldiers.  That is always fun and makes me feel like I am doing something to help out.  Then my daughter had invited me to lunch at my favorite resturant and there were 8 of my friends there to celebrate my birthday so that was fun.  My son called from Oklahoma and talked for a long time so it was nice to have that visit.  My favorite card I got for my birthday is one my other daughter sent me.  The sweet little girl on the card is my granddaughter, I love that picture!

I am sharing 2 cards I made using another new stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog called Easter Blossoms.  The sentiments on both of these cards are included in the as well.  The first card has the sweet little girl silloutte stamped on Whisper White and punched with the XL Oval punch.  I sponged around the oval as well as around the top of the card with Pretty in Pink to soften the edges.  The paper is from the Springtime Vintage pack and punched with the Scallop Trim border punch and it is all tied together with a length of Pear Pizzaz Seam Binding.

The second card also uses Springtime Vintage DSP, this time cut out with the Top Note die.  I love the dogwood branch that is in the Easter Blossoms set.  I used a Baja Breeze marker to color it in so it doesn't look very dogwoodsy but I love it just the same.  I used the Framed Tulips Embossing folder again, I love that thing!  I love the look of ruching that I did on the card I posted Wednesday (forgot a link to directions I posted Nov 10) but I went with another fun ribbon technique on this one.   I just ran a lenght of tape runner across the card where I wanted the ribbon to be and just pleated it, laying it in the adhesive to hold each pleat.  I kind of alternated each pleat toward the top and bottom to make it look fuller.  I added a Basic Pearl on each end of the ribbon.  Quick and easy!
